Construction almost underway!

JK Scanlan’s construction trailer arrived earlier this week and the team will be relocating some trees and installing the construction fence. We are SO close, now just waiting on that final building permit! It is hard to believe that it was only a little more than a year ago that we learned that we were awarded a $6 million grant from the federal government to fund most of the project. It also meant we would need to fundraise the remaining $3.25 million.

Since then, we moved quickly to convene a Building Committee , including some veterans of the 2006 project; obtain input from providers and staff on space and service needs; award architectural and construction contracts; complete the design; begin fundraising for the remainder of the project costs; and obtain permits and approvals from several regulatory bodies. It was an accelerated pace, to say the least!

Along the way the project was met with enthusiasm and recognition of the valuable service CHC provides to the community. We’re honored by this show of support and enormously grateful to everyone who assisted us over the last year.

The construction timetable is concise; the terms of the grant require that construction be completed by the end of September 2012. So, here’s hoping for a mild, dry winter!

Groundbreaking Ceremony a Huge Success!

On September 30, Health Center staff, volunteers, founders, donors and other community leaders and elected officials celebrated a historic day for Community Health Center of Cape Cod, the official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new 22,000 sq/ft addition in Mashpee. We were thrilled to have Congressman Bill Keating with us! He spoke to about 75 attendees about the importance of this project for our community.
